Be The Change: It’s Now or Never!!

change-coming

March 12, 2013 is a very important day for those who love Bellevue. March 12, 2013 is the day we put action to the growing desire for change in our amazing borough. March 12, 2013 is the final day to submit signed petitions to get your name on the 2013 ballot!

When Liberty in Bellevue launched last year, one of our primary goals was to ensure the right people were given an opportunity to lead our community to the growth and prosperity it should already be enjoying. After years of gross mismanagement, back room politics, personal vendettas, and shortsighted leadership Bellevue has denigrated to a community of blighted properties, declining home values, vacant store fronts, and increased crime. While many communities throughout Pittsburgh are experiencing an unprecedented renaissance, Bellevue continues to decline due to the lack of visionary leadership.

The time for change is now or never!! As of this moment, there are less than 10 days to ensure the changes in leadership necessary for our community to thrive like never before are made! There are two seats on Bellevue Council up for grabs in both Wards 1 and 2, a single seat available in Ward 3, as well as the mayor’s office. Currently we are aware of numerous fantastic candidates throwing their names in the hat in Ward 1 and Ward 3. We know of some great candidates running for mayor.

However, there is a desperate shortage of qualified candidates in Ward 2. The two seats available in Ward 2 are those currently held by Jim and Sue Viscusi; two seats on council occupied by members of the same household!!! If you’ve lived in Ward 2 for at least three years and feel the urge to be the change we all want to see in Bellevue, we’d love to talk to you!! It doesn’t matter to us if you’re a registered Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Independent. The rejuvenation of Bellevue has nothing to do with political affiliation and everything to do with visionary leaders capable of constructively working with others to bring new life to the town we all love!

If you’re not sure which ward you live in, please see the graphic below. Again, if you live in Ward 2 and are interested in being part of the history growth of the borough of Bellevue, contact Liberty in Bellevue at libertyinbellevue@gmail.com! Bellevue needs you!!

  1. I don’t want to sound ignorant but who are the candidates running for Mayor? I haven’t seen anything printed in The Citizen or around town. Word of mouth has told me of a person that is likely to run, and I’m not happy!

    • Lisa – we’re going to allow the candidates to share that information prior to it becoming public if/when they choose to do so. We’d hate to steal anyone’s personal announcement or speak too soon.

  2. What happens if no one volunteers?

    • With the candidates we know who have already stepped up to run in Wards 1 and 3, as well as the candidates for mayor, we are comfortable of the amount of change we will see in borough hall next year. However, we are committed to finding individuals to compete with the Viscusi’s in Ward 2 as we find it unacceptable for any seats to go uncontested. Are you in Ward 2 Jaylyne?

  3. I am interested in improving Bellevue yet not sure how to help. I live in Ward 2 and I don’t have anything against anyone but feel that things could be better for the community perhaps. How do I put into action the help that may be needed.

  4. I’m in Ward 2 so I’m really interested in who will be representing us.

  5. What are the responsibilities of council members? Seems like there should be a standard to which the voters should be able to hold seat-holders accountable to.
