  1. When will you post the candidate information, eg., their qualifications, education, type of employment, previous government service, degrees, public service, etc. The citizens can’t make an informed choice without this information.

    • Bill, A Very good question. Below is a release announcing my candidacy that outlines my credentials.

Lenard to Run for Bellevue Borough Council
Henry J. Lenard, a lifelong resident of Bellevue’s First Ward, is seeking the Democratic nomination for one of the ward’s two seats up for election this year. The municipal primary will be held on Tuesday, May 21.
Lenard, 55, graduated from Bellevue High School in 1975 and received his B.A. in journalism in 1979 from Duquesne University. He currently operates a marketing communications consulting business, in addition to being the Pittsburgh correspondent for Boston, MA-based Robotics Business Review.
Prior to starting his own business, Lenard served as marketing and communications director at two of Pittsburgh’s 10 largest law firms, Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti LLP and Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling. He also worked in public relations at St. George Group and at MARC USA. He was editor-in-chief of IndustryNet, a nationally focused print and online industrial news publication, and is a former editor-in-chief of the Pittsburgh Business Times. Lenard began his professional career with the now-defunct City and Suburban Life newspaper in Bellevue, first as a reporter and then as editor.
Lenard resides on Keswick Avenue with his wife, Helen, and son, Henry III, a second grader at Avalon Elementary School. He is a member of the Church of the Assumption in Bellevue.

  2. thanks for letting us know before we show up at the polls clueless. thank you.

  3. @Bill – the information about candidates was just released yesterday. We’re working on creating a forum where credentials and info will be posted. Please be patient, as all of us have full time jobs, and other responsibilities to keep up with as well. We will be posting information as we get it and/or collect it into the form of blogs/interviews.

We’re looking forward to a great 2013 race!

  4. Thanks, Nina. We’ll be looking forward to see who is qualified. Why no party affiliation for the school board candidates? In my humble opinion who we put on the school board has a greater effect on our financial condition and the community image than council.

  5. Bill, For school board, you can run on both platforms, instead of just the party with which you belong. I do agree that the school board can have a large financial impact on the community. With that said, I hope that when you vote you try to make an informed decision based on the candidates views and who they are, rather than based on party affiliation.

  6. Do you have a list of whose seats are up?

    • yes, Greg. The list is as follows for the Bellevue seats: Ward 1, Jane Braunlich, Kathy Coder; Ward 2, Jim and Sue Viscusi; Ward 3, Lynn Heffley; Mayor Doscher.

I’m not sure which seats are up on the school board.

      • The seats up for election on the school board are as follows:

        Daniel Klicker
        Anthony Barbarino
        Shirl Reinhart
        Marita Bartholomew

  7. @Greg,
Other than what the Admin posted above, i think there is more in depth info about whose seats are up in a previous blog that we posted about calling for candidates. Just in case you’re looking for more info, you may be able to find it in that blog post. God knows you won’t find a damn thing on the borough website, we got it covered!

  8. I invite anyone who is interested in my background and experience to visit my linked in page.
As I had great reservation getting back in to the craziness of Bellevue politics, I read a quote- “The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens–DON’T QUIT!” Maybe I am a Polly Anna, but I can’t give up on this place—We need a common purpose and people who can work together for a cause greater than themselves and despite party and agendas listen to each other and in the end do what is right for our town.Thank you to the people who stepped up for the first time to run for office—Reflecting back, I had no idea what I was getting in to 5 years ago. I will tell you that you will grow personally in ways you didn’t know possible. You will see the best and worst in people and hopefully get better and not bitter— Enjoy the journey!
