2013 Candidate: Louise Pascale, Northgate School Board

Candidate Bio:

My name is Louise Pascale and I am running for the Northgate School Board. I moved to Bellevue in 1999 and after having our first child, my husband and I moved to Avalon in 2001, where we began raising our new family. Our two children now attend Avalon Elementary in the 3rd and 6th grades. I am running for the school board because I want to be an integral part of my children’s education.

As a parent and member of this community, I feel that it is essential for all of us to become more engaged in our local school’s decisions. Our children are too important for us not to be involved. As a concerned parent, I feel it is my duty to ask, learn and help determine what is going to happen with our children, our schools and our community. As a business owner for over 13 years in the design/construction industry, I have the ultimate responsibility to make sure that projects are completed on time and on budget, while reaching the goal of client satisfaction. My business experience will assist me in helping our school board make better decisions for our future.

Recently, we’ve seen a lot of changes going on with our schools. During these changes I’ve heard a lot of rumors… and barely any facts. It’s imperative that a clear line of communication exists between the Board, the Administration, parents and teachers. I have been actively working on The Communications Committee to address these concerns and offer suggestions for improvement. My business experiences have taught me that there are rarely quick and simple solutions to big problems, but I have always found success by recognizing that there is more than one solution to any situation. It’s up to us as a community to work together and find it.

We need to have accountability! As a board member, I will hold the Board, Administration and Educators accountable for decisions that are made and stand true to my convictions to remind them that everything we do is about our kids.

I have heard many times how Northgate is the “best kept secret” in Pittsburgh and I couldn’t agree more. I believe that you can’t help but fall in love with the intimacy and charm of our community. Throughout our proud history, the boroughs of Avalon and Bellevue have been a place that provided our children with the skills and knowledge necessary to grow and be successful. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the smiles of our children as they live, play, grow & learn. I will remain committed to helping the advancement of our children’s future.

Please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Louise Pascale
